So I found this idea from you-know-where. The post says to fill a dish with baking soda, add food coloring to vinegar, then use droppers to drop the liquid onto the baking soda. It bubbles in reaction. This seemed simple and straight-forward and something that both Avery and Emmersen could do. (And I get to feel like a rock star mom for coming up with such a crafty science project, even if I did find it on that one particular website.)
Success! Both girls loved it though Emme didn't last terribly long. Avery was delighted at that because she then got to take over Emme's dish.
