Getting ready for Christmas

This year we decided to get our act together a bit more quickly and decorate for Christmas the weekend of Thanksgiving instead of waiting until the last minute. (Now if I could just have that mentality for shopping for presents...) Aaron lugged everything up from the basement and Avery inspected the boxes to make sure they were just right. And then we decorated. Our tree is up and our stockings are hung. I dreaded doing it but love it now that it's done. In years past, Aaron and I have always used plain ball ornaments on the tree. This year though, I bought a few ornaments to get us started on a new tradition of adding ornaments as we go, ornaments that actually mean something. Yes, we still have the regular ones too but now we have one for Avery's first Christmas and our first Christmas as a family of three! We were also able to put to use ornaments that folks have gotten us in the past but we hadn't used yet. I love it! Avery was captivated by the lights and of course had to reach for the ornaments. As of right now, she can't crawl to get to the tree, but that could change before the tree comes down for the season.
