Week 17

So if you have followed this blog from the beginning, you know that I started it to track my pregnancy with Avery and then everything else associated with her or our life. My how things are different with the second baby. We took the first pregnancy picture this time around at 10 weeks and then finally happened to get one this week...7 weeks later in week 17. Honestly, unlike with Avery, I didn't have much to show until about 2 weeks ago. This pregnancy is quite different.

With Avery I gained a total of 45 pounds. With this one, I have struggled to gain and maintain 1 pound. I'm sure part of it is because I have Avery to run after now and less time to sit down. Plus the majority of my pregnancy now will be in the heat of summer whereas with Avery it was mainly through the winter when we stayed inside more. I also became pregnant with Avery on fertility drugs but fortunately with this one, that wasn't needed. The doctor said that the drugs probably contributed to more retention of fluids, adding to my quick weight gain.

I am exhausted and have constant, daily headaches and I don't really see the light at the end of the tunnel on that. I guess the tired is expected when chasing after a 2 year old. The headaches though get a little old. Overall, this pregnancy is progressing well and is actually flying by. I can't believe that it's almost half way over. I still don't think I've wrapped my head around how much things will change, how many more things we need to do to prepare, or that we will be a family of 4! But I'm grateful for all of these things, look forward to taking on the new challenges, and comforted by the fact that I have an amazing and supportive husband. We make a pretty good team!

Stay tuned...in about 1.5 weeks, we hope to find out what we're having!
