I think if Gunner could have just one wish granted, it would be that he could become human. Though at times he is about 1 card short of a full deck, he constantly loves us and wants nothing more than to be loved. He is protective of our girls and I think if he could, he would pick them up and give them hugs. He is so patient and sweet. If I can't get to one of the girls fast enough when they are crying, he comes and finds me. He likes to sleep curled in a ball outside their rooms when they are sleeping. When the girls and I are playing on the floor and they begin laughing uncontrollably or squealing from my tickling them, he starts to whine and pace and will eventually come sit between me and the girls because he's not sure if they are hurting or laughing.
We give him grief because he really can be flighty sometimes. Picture that cartoon where the character is focused and intent on doing something but then all of a sudden a butterfly flutters by and they are distracted, following the butterfly with their nose, and completely lose all train of thought. That's Gunner. He's done this exact thing so many times.
But really, he's a good dog. He loves to be right in the middle of the girls. He lets Avery dress him up in feathers and necklaces and lets Emme crawl over him and pull his tail. I hope he knows how much he's loved.
