Ouch!

Nothing like an emergency to force you into finding a pediatric dentist.

Before today, Avery had not been to a dentist. After today, she's squeezed in an appointment, has a follow-up scheduled for next week, and a regular check-up in 6 months. Way to go, Avery.

Avery was sitting on her knees at one of our kitchen table chairs. She had her hands on the table, arms fully straight and supporting the whole upper half of her body. You see where this is going?

She lost her balance and essentially caught herself with her front teeth on the table. There are 2 teeth marks in the table to prove it. Oh, the screaming and crying! And rightfully so. We let her nap but she woke up extremely swollen and bruised so we quickly searched for a pediatric dentist and found one that would see us on the spot. (Fortunately, she was extremely nice and we plan to keep her as a regular dentist for the girls.)

The outcome is that she will be fine. Sore, but fine. We may notice some greying of her tooth in the next few months and she may lose that front tooth sooner than later but because it's her baby tooth, it's not a problem. X-rays showed that her permanent tooth was not damaged at all. Whew!
