It hasn't been that long since we've last seen family, but to me it has felt like an eternity! So when my mom called to tell me that she and Bill were planning a visit for the early part of January, I cried sweet, happy tears! You see, my mom and I are a lot alike. On levels that I can't even explain. To say that she had a rough time with our recent move would be an understatement. When she let me know that they were coming, I knew that yes, it was to see us, but I also knew that she was coming to see here, this place, Spokane, our home, the kitchen we eat in, the rooms where we sleep. A photo library of sorts to keep in her mind, pulling it up during conversation or easing her mind when needing to place us, if you will. Did she tell me all of this? No. She didn't have to. I'm the same way.
While they were here, we did our best to show them a few sights, but considering we are not that familiar with the area yet, we stuck to the obvious tourist site- downtown. Fortunately for us, downtown Spokane is beautiful and the gondola rides were the perfect way to see this. When we weren't riding through the air or feeding the ducks, we were visiting and painting Avery and Emmersen's rooms. So nice to have those projects behind us!
As visits go, this one went way too fast. We are already looking forward to the next one!
