Fun-filled weekend

We had such a good weekend! I'm currently off on Fridays for as long as I am commuting, so Fridays are my day to catch up with Avery. This past Friday I took her to the park and to McDonald's for lunch. I know, probably not the ideal lunch for a 1-year old but there was just something about ordering her first Happy Meal- don't get the wrong idea. I couldn't even tell you the last time I had McD's. Just something random I wanted to do with Avery. Anywho- she loved it! She wasn't so sure of those nuggets at first but once she got the hang of them- she really enjoyed them. Also, Avery has recently figured out how to drink from a straw so she thinks she's pretty hot stuff when she does get to use one. It definitely made for getting this milk in her a piece of cake.

On Saturday, the three of us went to Miller Park Zoo here in Bloomington. The zoo really only takes about 40 minutes to walk from one end to the other so it was perfect for Avery. She had a hard time figuring out what we were pointing at unless the animal was actually moving. Avery was pretty fascinated with the meerkats. Although, no matter what the animal was, Avery referred to it as a "daw" or "dog" for those of you needing translation. The weather was warm and overcast so it made the trip even more enjoyable.

She wasn't so sure of that pig.

On Sunday Avery and I hit up the pool for the first time while Aaron played some golf. She LOVED it and we had a GREAT time. They had a baby pool where we spent most of our time with some of her water toys. Then I took her over to the adult pool and let her kick around. She splashed and giggled for about an hour before she hit the wall. Between the water and the sun, she was worn out. Let me preface the last pictures with saying that Avery NEVER falls asleep in the car while just here in town. Even on road trips, it's at least 1-2 hours before she gives in to sleep. Well, not this day. She cried when we had to leave the pool, cried in the car for about 3 minutes and then was out like a light. Good times!

On the way back home

And she's out.
