Beginning the 3rd trimester

Wow, tomorrow begins week 28 or the third trimester. It's so hard to believe that we only have 3 months left until we meet our little girl. Then again, at times, 3 months seems so far away yet. Those 90 days or so are actually pretty busy for us so I know that it will make time go by even faster. Aaron is still in the middle of basketball season with about 6 or so weeks left. We also have 2 more baby showers in the works. The furniture has been ordered and should arrive in another 6 weeks although we were told today that the dresser might be running a little later than expected. We are hoping that it gets here in enough time! As you've seen below, Aaron painted the nursery and today he hung the valances. (See new picture for that.) Now we wait. I don't do that very well so I've been "nesting" as they say. I've gone through closets and dreamt up new projects for the house. Weather permitting, I'd like to have a yard sale before the baby is born. Just to clear out a few more things from the house.

I absolutely love being pregnant. I think it's fascinating to think about what is taking place inside my body. So far, it's been pretty uneventful. I didn't have any sickness in the first trimester. I did have my first encounter with a kidney stone though. I've had some congestion and a sinus infection that refuses to completely go away. Aaron has been absolutely amazing. He's picked up my slack around the house and has been completely understanding of my weird and random crying spells. He's completely taken the initiative on working on the nursery and reading up on what's happening with me and the baby in each new week. Did I mention that he brought home chocolate milk (my latest craving) without being asked? He's probably just happy that I'm past my cream cheese, ham and pickle craving! Aaron has been able to feel her move many times now inside this growing belly of mine. Occasionally now, we can even see her kick if she does it hard enough! Speaking of growing belly, it's amazing some of the comments I've received so far from ding-dongs out there.

#1: Male co-worker of mine

Him: "Wow, how much longer do you have?"
Me: "I still have about three months left."
Him: "Really? What are you having, twins or something?"
Me: "Uh, no. Just one."
Him: "Seriously? What are you growing in there?"
Me: "Ok, really. Just stop."

#2: Another male co-worker of mine

Him: "So when are you due?"
Me: "End of April. Still have about three months left."
Him: "Wow. Really?" (shakes his head)
Me: "Yep." (I can see where this is going.)
Him: "Yeah, my wife was the same way. Got huge with both of our kids."

#3: Male delivery man that has our office on his route

Him: "Hey, congratulations! I didn't know you were pregnant. When are you due?"
Me: "About three months left now."
Him: "That's great. (looks at my belly) "Are you having twins?"
Me: "Nope. Just one."
Him: "Huh, ok." (starts to walk away and then comes back to where I'm sitting) "Are you sure?"

Unbelievable. I'm sure (or at least I'm hoping) that many of you reading this had these same encounters. Ugh. One person today did provide a compliment that I have to throw in to outweigh these other dumb-dumb comments. I was standing in the return line at a store today waiting with six other people for our chance at the counter.

FEMALE customer: (notice the gender!)

Her: "How far along are you?"
Me: "Oh, in my seventh month now."
Her: "Wow, you look really good. You're doing a great job of keeping your weight down. You look great."
Me: (dumbfounded) "Uh, thanks. Thanks a lot. I appreciate that."

Finally. Someone that can open her mouth and not spew stupidity. And that is the beginning of the third trimester.
