Our first snow of the season was all that the meteorologists promised: thick, heavy, wet, accumulating snow. Seven inches of it, to be exact. When Aaron and I first moved to Illinois, he was so very excited to experience snow, a Midwest snow. Being from Texas, he rarely encountered this white bliss, save for the dusting here or there, or the sheets of ice that closed up the town. So when the snow arrived in our first winter here, he was like a kid at Christmas with his nose pressed to the cold window. He was excited, yes excited, to shovel the driveway and sidewalks creating mountains of snow. Fast forward six years and you'll find that my husband has found a new fondness that comes with fresh blankets of snow- taking Avery out to play in it. The shoveling that he was once found enjoyable has now become a dreaded chore. However, once this task is complete, playtime is in order. And Avery loves every second of it.
