Grandparent's Day

I don't think it gets any sweeter than this- a very special 3 year old with her great-grandparents. Some of my best childhood memories stem from time spent with my grandparents and it brings me such incredible joy that Avery and Emmersen have the opportunity to create some of their own.

Today was grandparent's day at Avery's preschool. Yes, Avery has grandparents who are incredible, but not many get to invite their GREAT grandparents. I have to admit I was slightly jealous, or maybe more reminiscent of the times like this I had with my grandparents. Watching them walk through the doors of the school without me- I so badly wanted to go and participate too.

My grandparents drove the 2.5 hours from St. Louis yesterday afternoon and spent the night with us so they could get up and go to school with Avery. It was all she could talk about for days. From what I understand, Avery showed them her room, worked on a craft, and sang some songs. Sounds perfect. We grabbed some lunch after school before they made their trip back home.

Everyone is biased, I know. But I do believe I have some of the best grandparents in the entire world. They are incredibly loving and supportive and helped to shape so much of my life. There is not a day that goes by where I don't think of them and wish that we lived closer so that my girls (and me too!) could spend more time with them. Today, however, was a good band-aid. Hoping it lasts me until our next visit.
