Have you ever moved across the country? Have you ever moved across the country with 2 kids ages 3 and 1 plus 2 dogs that weigh at least 90 pounds each? Maybe you have. Maybe you've moved much further than that, possibly around the globe. If so, you know just how nerve-racking such a process can be. Even though I've known since June that this day was coming, there was nothing that I could really do to prepare. Fortunately, with Aaron's new job came a moving package that included having our house packed and shipped. Without having to do any of this, the girls and I have continued to live each day as normal as possible because quite frankly, everything that has to be done is last minute stuff. Cleaning the house. Can't be done until furniture is out. Change of address. Can't be done too soon ahead of time or we'll miss the mail in one place or another. The list goes on and on.
But here it is. The weekend of the BIG move. The time to pack it up and move on out. Without boring you with all the chaotic mishaps (yes, there were plenty), I'll just say that this is exhausting. And we've only just begun. Here are a few shots from these past couple days taken from my phone because honestly, I haven't a clue where my real camera might be.

Avery thought vacuuming out the kitchen drawers was fun for the first 4. Then she had a change of heart. Smart kid.

Q: It's nap time for your 13 month old. She's missing a crib. Who am I kidding? She's missing ALL of her furniture. What do you do?
A: You line up 2 stuffed armchairs end to end and place them in what she knows to be her room (despite the fact that it doesn't have a single thing in it) and hope she doesn't notice. Eventually, she passes out from pure exhaustion in what you hope is a somewhat comfortable position.

This is our beautiful "morning after" self portrait. This is all of us on an air mattress in our house that doesn't have anything else in it. Nothing. I have to say though, it made a fun memory. The kids thought is was fun to run around our empty house listening to their voices echo. The dogs seemed to make a game of sniffing every inch of carpet that was once covered by furniture. Me and Aaron? We found the nearest wall to prop up our weary bodies.
