Rushing for the Field Trip

I started my morning off rushed, grumpy, and irritated. I honestly can't remember now at this point what made me so grumpy and irritated but it was quite possibly the simple fact that I was late and running around all crazy-like. Surely you've had a similar experience?

Had the morning gone as planned, I would have taken Avery to preschool and then walked with her and her class to the public library for their class field trip. As it turns out, I forgot the stroller for Emmersen and didn't realize it until after I dropped Avery off. So I had 2 choices: a.) drop Avery off and not go on the field trip with her even though she begged me to or, b.) drop Avery off with her class, race back home for a stroller, and race back to school in hopes of catching her class before they left. I opted for the latter and paid for it the rest of the morning.

I raced home, grabbed a stroller, raced back to the school and parked only to realize that her class had already left and was about a block ahead of me. Thinking this is no problem, I strap Emme into the stroller and start running to catch up. Did I mention that it had just rained, was damp, pretty breezy, and I was wearing sandals and no jacket? Yes, I was quite a sight I'm sure. By the time I arrived, I was a mess and Emmersen had managed to pull off both shoes and socks in our dash. But to see Avery's face light up was priceless. She was thrilled that we had made it.

Sitting back and watching Avery with her class at storytime gave me a chance to catch my breath and realize that the rush had been worth it. I'm glad I didn't skip out. And for the rest of today, my mood greatly improved (though it came at a price of a stubbed toe and messy, frizzy hair).
