Today we celebrated Avery's birthday with some of her (princess) friends. I have 2 disclaimers to make before we go on:
1. The concept for this party- Tangled a.k.a Rapunzel- proved easy. The logistics however, were an absolute nightmare. Remind me to not host a party at a place that gives me a mere 15 minutes to set up. Fifteen, people! Come on!
2. Avery loves the movie "Tangled" and I was encouraged to move forward with such a party idea after attending an Illinois friend's party with the same theme (thank you, Sarah!). While I did steal borrow some ideas from her, I managed to yank a few additional ideas from my other place of choice, Pinterest. So while I do consider myself somewhat creative, I had a lot of "help" on this one.
Okay, so as I was saying, Avery's birthday party was held at Mobius, Spokane's children's museum. They have a private room for parties, etc. and we decided to use this option as our house is still somewhat upside down from unpacking and organizing. Aside from the fact that I was given 15 minutes to set up, the party went really well. Avery was so giddy and excited to be the center of attention. The best part, if I do say, was the cake I made to look like Tangled's tower. It was created of donuts, icing, cupcakes, and an iced ice cream cone. I was really proud of that and so glad that I took a picture of it as it promptly toppled over about 7 minutes later. Oh well, we laughed and added a memory for the day. Other yummies included cheese cubes, fruit kabobs, and sprinkled, candy dipped pretzel rods.
All of the princesses giggled as only little girls can while decorating their braids that we secured in their hair. After presents and a mass effort on the part of the adults to secure some sort of group princess picture, they were set loose to play in the museum. Whew! And then it was over. Just like that. I'm pretty sure Avery had a spectacular time and that makes all the running around, late nights, and endless cutting on the starburst banner, worth it. Happy birthday, Princess!
(No, the original invite did not have a white streak through it. I blurred through my phone number for this post.)
