Turning Four

Miss Avery Kate turned 4 years old today! She is sweet, sassy, and has a huge heart with an endless amount of questions. Avery is an incredible big sister to Emmersen and makes parenting a little easy for both Aaron and me. Most of the time.
Avery still loves zebras and anything zebra-related. She loves playing with dolls and her Barbies and her favorite movie is Tangled. (It is a really cute movie.) A special thing that we enjoy every once in awhile is "girl's night." Sometimes it's "girl's night + daddy." After we put Emme to bed, we crawl up into our bed, watch a movie and eat popcorn, candy, and anything else unhealthy, dance to the music as the credits roll, and then call it a night in our bed where she gets to sleep. Though we have a king-size bed, I still only end up with about 10 inches of space. Funny how that works.

Avery loves to "mommy" Emmersen and take care of her. Honestly, she does it so often and so well there are many times that Emme prefers Avery over me. She helps her brush her teeth, put on her jammies, changes her diapers, gets her into the van, into her carseat and buckled...(Maybe I should stop there. She's starting to make me look bad. Kidding!) But really, all of that is true. Ask her what she wants to be when she grows up and she'll tell you that she wants to be a mommy. She'll be an amazing mother some day. (Though we have a long time for that. Long. Very long.)

Avery really enjoys preschool and learning. She particularly likes art and painting. She loves to help me bake or work on projects. I know I'm biased because I'm her mom, but I've got a pretty incredible 4 year old. She amazes me each day with her talents and abilities or how big that heart of hers really is. And she humbles me when I hear her pray or when she tells me that she forgives me because I apologize for having a grumpy day.

She loves to be silly and is constantly saying, "Watch me!" Though she likes her silly stunts to be observed, she is also very observant herself. And her memory is like none other. That child has memories from when she was maybe 18 months old. No, I'm not exaggerating. She can recall almost any event, outfit, street name, person's age, etc. Avery may only be 4 but she is what I would call an "old soul". I've had discussions with Avery that some 24 year olds could not handle.

As you can tell, I could go on and on about our Avery girl, but I still have a slew of pictures for you to view so I will stop for now. Today Avery's birthday was filled with presents, her first bike, carousel rides (this is becoming an annual birthday tradition), feeding the ducks, eating cotton candy, a zebra cake, and pizza and play at the torturous wonderful Chuck E. Cheese.

And P.S.- just so I can get it in here on this post, Avery weighs 32.5 lb. and is 40.25 in. tall. So petite!
